18 October 2006 - Last month students from the University of Newcastle’s Law School scooped the pool in the prestigious Sir Harry Gibbs Constitutional Law Moot. A mock trial on demanding constitutional law issues, against a number of top class teams from across the country, saw Newcastle win the Grand Final in Melbourne.

Deputy Executive Director Noel Hadjimichael, accompanied by Ms Farah Sultan (one of CEFA’s volunteer scholars) said the trip was worth it. “Newcastle law school has the track record on the big issues: national competitions, excellence in research and student recognition.” “Newcastle law school has the track record on the big issues: national competitions, excellence in research and student recognition.” “We traveled from our national base in Sydney for a chance to say thank you to these outstanding young Australians.” Mr Hadjimichael noted. The Sir Harry Gibbs Moot is one of the top two competitions regarding the Constitution – it is demanding and requires quick thinking from the participants.
