Governor General's National Essay Competition - deadline for entries extended to Black Friday 13 October 2006
In response to requests from students, university teachers and some regional campuses, the deadline for the Governor General's National Essay Competition has been extended to 11:50 pm Eastern Standard Time Friday 13 October 2006.
"The extra time will assist some students to make the deadline and all students who have submitted to date will receive an email to confirm their opportunity to re-submit." Mr Noel Hadjimichael Director of the Governor General's Award Program confirmed today.
"Last year we had more than 20 entries come over the line because of the an extension - it is natural for students to run things close to the deadline."
"My own students at law school always complain about how busy they are." Mr Hadjimichael commented.
"Given the very high calibre of entries and the strong questions on offer - CEFA is very sure that we will achieve a great outcome for the competition. Qualifying finalists will be judged on 1 November 2006 in Sydney by a panel that includes High Court Justice Susan Crennan and former Tasmanian Chief Justice Sir Guy Green. All finalists will attend a reception at Admiralty House Kirribilli on 2 November 2006 to receive their scholarships or certificates from the Governor General himself."
