October 6, 2011 The Constitution Education Fund Australia (CEFA) will be holding its Awards Ceremony at the heritage home Swifts in Darling Point, Sydney on November 29th, 2011. The ceremony will honour excellence in CEFA civics education projects, programs and awards in schools and universities from across Australia.
The ceremony will feature a luncheon address from the former Governor-General and current CEFA Director, Major-General Michael Jeffery AC, CVO, MC (Rtd). General Jeffery will be reflecting on his time as Governor-General and sharing his perspectives of the role of Governor-General with the audience. The Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir, AC, CVO will also attend the ceremony. Her Excellency will present the recipients of CEFA’s civics education awards with their scholarships and prizes on the day including the winners of both the 2009 and 2010 Governor-General’s Undergraduate Essay Competitions. The final judging panels for both 2009 and 2010 will be invited including the chair from both years, The Hon. Justice Robert French, AC (2009) and The Hon. Justice Virginia Bell (2010).CEFA is most pleased to be able to honour our outstanding young civics education awards winners and our wonderfully generous supporters in the timeless elegant surroundings of the Swifts property.
