May 1. 2009 CEFA is delighted to announce that on Friday May 1, 2009 seven new NSW Primary schools were trained and introduced to the CEFA School Parliaments (CSPs). Teachers attended the Training Day from the following schools:
1- Ashbury Public School 2- Balmain Public School 3- Clemton Park Public School 4- Our Lady of Fatima Primary School, Kingsgrove 5- Presbyterian Ladies College (PLC) 6- St Patrick's Primary College, Strathfield 7- Waverley College Junior School, Waverley Director of the CEFA School Parliaments (CSPs), Mr Don Perna has expanded the introductory session to be more focused on teachers and on students' learning processes, so that the parliament can be absorbed into units of work in the relevant syllabus. To help teachers choose from a variety of pathways that use a CSP as a practical civics enhancement to teaching, CEFA is developing online teaching and learning resources. Over the next two months sample units of work related to the curriculum in different states and territories will be added to the site. At the end of the training day, CEFA Director, Mr Don Perna, stated “the teachers who attended today were inspired and excited to adapt a school parliament that suits the teacher and learning environment of their own school. I am personally thrilled that so many new schools are looking at starting a CEFA School Parliament” |
