September 10, 2008 The Compass story entitled 'A Muslim Education' screened nationally ABC1 on Sunday evening September 7, 2008. CEFA was delighted that the CEFA Parliamentary Club was featured at Al-Zahra College Primary School.
Throughout the story the CEFA Parliaments in Action demonstrated the unique educational values offered through CEFA's Parliamentary Clubs program. In particular, the featured children demonstrated their understanding of an Australian national identity centred on being part of a democratic functioning community. Through roles such as Governor-General, Prime Minister, Opposition Leader, Members of Parliament and Independent members, the children demonstrated high levels of debating to eventually achieve an effective new school policy. The school teachers acted as a senate showing the importance of the school communities ability to work as a cohesive team within the boundaries and guidelines of the Parliaments School Constitution.
