15 May 2008 CEFA’s Director of The Parliamentary Club Initiative, Don Perna, has been selected as one of only 40 educators from around Australia as a delegate to the Civics and Citizenship Education National Forum to be held in Canberra on the 2nd and 3rd of June 2008.
He was nominated for this forum by Mr. Peter Turner, Director of Education Wollongong Catholic Education Office for his work in the area of civics education and his substantial contribution in developing CEFA’s Parliamentary Clubs around the nation. CEFA’s Parliamentary Club initiative is being acknowledged by educators, academics, members of parliament and school communities as a major development in addressing the challenges faced by schools in delivering cutting edge civics and citizenship education. The forum aims to raise the awareness of the national agenda in civics and citizenship education; and promote good teaching practice in civics and citizenship education in Australian schools. Congratulations to Don on his selection, which once again shows that CEFA’s civics awards, programs and staff are at the forefront in civics and citizenship, and will continue to make a significant contribution in this most important aspect of Australian education |
