The Constitution Education Fund Australia (CEFA) is dedicated to providing students any opportunity possible to discuss and debate topics that address Civics, Citizenship and Values Educational issues. In 2008 CEFA was project partner with the NSW Department of Education and Training (DET), The Arts Unit, to sponsor and support the Premier Debating Challenge 2008. Thousands of young Australians will debate topics on Civics and Citizenship themes for all age divisions from Years 5 -12. The CEFA name and logo will be noted on the poster and entry forms sent to all government schools in New South Wales and will be acknowledged on certificates awarded to all participants in the competition as well as zone and regional winners and state finalists. Invitations will be sent to representatives of CEFA to attend adjudicator training courses, regional finals, semi finals and state finals.CEFA will be able to disseminate information to all schools entered in the Premier's Debating Challenge. The trophy for the winner of the Years 7 & 8 division has been named as the ‘Joy Chambers-Grundy Trophy’ in honour of her role as CEFA Trustee and CEFA supporter of its Public Speaking Civics Programs. Media coverage will be sought through avenues such as Side By Side (the magazine of the NSW Department of Education & Training) and general media regarding the Premier's Debating Challenge and its associated support by CEFA. Premier’s Debating Challenge 2009: The Premier’s Debating Challenge is open to NSW government schools in Years 5 to 12, and is designed to encourage young people to express themselves with confidence and clarity, and to develop their capacity for reasoned and logical thought.
