On Wednesday October 20th, The Constitution Education Fund Australia (CEFA) and Hornsby Council jointly hosted a preview screening of what Australia can expect from the AusCivics Film Festivals in 2011. More than 300 students from schools in the Hornsby Shire area attended the preview at The Hornsby RSL Club. Two screening sessions were held during the course of the day and the feedback received from the students and teachers were positive. |

Media Release Sydney, 15 October 2010 The Constitution Education Fund Australia (CEFA) and Woollahra Council jointly hosted a preview screening last night of what Australia can expect from the AusCivics Film Festivals in 2011. Educators, school principals, professors from distinguished universities and community group presidents attended the preview at Woollahra Council Chambers and the feedback received was positive from all sides. Principals from Randwick Boys high, Waverley and St Clare’s College and members of the East Sydney Rotary and Lions Clubs were among the attendees present as well as representatives from the Catholic Education Office and the Federation of the Parents and Citizens Association of NSW. |

September 24th, 2010 Last week Year 6 students from St Patrick's College Strathfield convened their 2010 CEFA School Parliament. Members from the school Government and Opposition joined with eminent community guests including the Parliament mentor and former Lord Mayor of Sydney, Mr Douglas Sutherland AM, following an election between the Earth Party and the Workers Party. |

September 13, 2010 The inaugural AusCivics Film Festival – Celebrating the Australian Way was launched in Broken Hill on Saturday September 11 at the Silver City Cinema, Broken Hill. The Broken Hill Art Gallery was at full capacity for the pre-event cocktail party with guests eager to watch the film named after their very own town. The Mayor of Broken Hill, Wincen Cuy, addressed the crowd and spoke of his support and excitement of seeing the film for the first time. He also mentioned the need for the community to get behind the AusCivics project to better civics education, awareness and understanding of the rules which govern our country and allow us to lead such privileged lives as Australians. September 7, 2010 Students from Balmain Public School opened their CEFA School Parliament with their first sitting on Monday September 6, 2010. Teacher and librarian, Ms Margaret Stone, was the speaker for the session which saw members discussing issues ranging from using more recycled paper in the school to budget management and new uses of technology at the school with individual flair and style. |
