20 February 2007 - Constitution Education Fund Australia (CEFA) had its tax-exempt status confirmed by the Australian Taxation Office today following a tax review. CEFA is a not-for-profit, civics education organisation founded with a Council of eminent Australians drawn from academia, business and community leaders.

18 October 2006 - Last month students from the University of Newcastle’s Law School scooped the pool in the prestigious Sir Harry Gibbs Constitutional Law Moot. A mock trial on demanding constitutional law issues, against a number of top class teams from across the country, saw Newcastle win the Grand Final in Melbourne. |

5 October 2006 sees the launch of the First Voter competition as a pilot competition in Brisbane and Rockhampton. The Constitution Education Fund Australia (CEFA), an independent, non-partisan & non-profit organisation dedicated to increasing public understanding & appreciation of the Constitution, is conducting the competition. Mrs Kerry Jones the Executive Director, CEFA said ‘The First Voter Initiative aims to encourage recent first-time voters or potential future voters to gain an enhanced awareness of the Australian political system and take an active interest in Australia and its society’. |

Governor General's National Essay Competition - deadline for entries extended to Black Friday 13 October 2006 In response to requests from students, university teachers and some regional campuses, the deadline for the Governor General's National Essay Competition has been extended to 11:50 pm Eastern Standard Time Friday 13 October 2006. "The extra time will assist some students to make the deadline and all students who have submitted to date will receive an email to confirm their opportunity to re-submit." Mr Noel Hadjimichael Director of the Governor General's Award Program confirmed today. |
