In response to requests from students, university teachers and some regional campuses, the deadline for the Governor General's Undergraduate Essay Competition has been extended to 5:00pm Eastern Standard Time Friday 19 December 2008.

On October 1, the Constitution Education Fund Australia (CEFA) held its NSW 2008 Awards Ceremony at Government House, Sydney. The event was hosted by the Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency, Professor Marie Bashir AO CVO.

On Monday, September 9, in the CEFA sponsored NSW Premier's Debating Competition, Caringbah High School and Hornsby Girls’ High School debated the topic ‘that we should remove protections for industry from the proposed carbon-trading scheme.’
